The Model Town of Bdadoun

Projects

Pedestrian Path Project Between Bdadoun and Bsous

As part of enhancing connectivity with neighboring villages and improving the lifestyle in Badadoun, I propose collaborating with the Municipality of Bsous to implement a safe and comfortable pedestrian walkway linking the two towns.

Project Specifications:

  • Work in parallel with the current road expansion project between Badadoun and Bsous, allocating a dedicated pedestrian sidewalk on the side of the road.

  • Install modern lighting along the path to ensure safety at night, with benches placed throughout the route for resting and enjoying the surrounding scenery.

  • Designate parking spots along the edges of the road to prevent traffic congestion and allow smooth vehicle flow.

  • Beautify the path using suitable materials, such as gravel or colorful tiles, to create an attractive and accessible walkway.

Through this project, we aim to offer a safe and pleasant walking space that improves the quality of life between Badadoun and Bsous, while encouraging physical activity and social interaction among residents.

Bdadoun Annual Village Festival

In addition to our beloved religious celebrations such as the feasts of Saint George, Saint Elias, Saint Anthony, and the Virgin Mary, I propose launching a special annual village festival dedicated to Badadoun — such as reviving the traditional “Janarek Festival” or introducing a new one.

The goals of this festival include:

  • Bringing together all the residents of Badadoun, of all ages, for an open day full of joy and activities.

  • Setting up stalls to sell local products: traditional foods, fruits and vegetables grown by the villagers, handmade crafts, and more.

  • Applying a small symbolic fee for each participant or sale, with proceeds going into a fund for purchasing flower and plant seeds for the spring season.

  • Organizing musical performances, children’s entertainment, and light cultural competitions to promote a spirit of love and community among all villagers.

This festival will serve as a joyful opportunity to revive the spirit of collaboration and social solidarity, while creatively supporting environmental and agricultural initiatives in Badadoun.

Bdadoun Rally: In Partnership with Wadi Chahrour and Houmal

In recent years, Badadoun has successfully hosted a local rally that received strong participation and enthusiasm.
Building on the importance of this athletic and recreational event, I propose expanding it to include:

  • Organizing a joint rally between Badadoun, Wadi Chahrour, and Houmal, with key stages and checkpoints set in each village.

  • Turning the rally into a showcase of local heritage by setting up booths at every checkpoint, where villagers can sell local goods such as homemade food, handicrafts, agricultural products, and more.

  • Offering symbolic prizes to participants, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and fostering collaboration among the three villages.

  • Involving scouting and sports associations in organizing and covering the event to ensure smooth execution.

In this way, the rally evolves from a simple athletic event into a comprehensive village festival that stimulates the local economy and strengthens social and cultural ties between the people of the participating villages.

Bdadoun Music Festival: In Partnership with Houmal and Neighboring Villages (Bleybel, Wadi Chahrour, Bsous, and Qmatiyeh)

As part of the vision to enhance cultural and artistic life in Badadoun, I propose establishing an annual music festival in collaboration with the town of Houmal.
This initiative is inspired by a beautiful idea started by our dear friend Walid Fghali in Houmal, which continues today. I hope that the new municipal council will coordinate with him to transform this event into a lasting cultural partnership between the two villages.

The festival would include:

  • Celebrating World Music Day, held every year on June 21.

  • Organizing a youth music competition where young talents from neighboring villages showcase their musical and singing abilities.

  • Awarding symbolic prizes for the best musical performances to encourage emerging talents.

  • Hosting local musical bands to perform in open-air concerts for all residents of Badadoun, Houmal, and visitors.

Through this initiative, we offer our youth a platform to shine, strengthen the cultural bond between Badadoun and Houmal, and use art as a bridge to deepen connections among our communities.

Organization of a Weekly Farmers' Market

• Organization of a weekly market in the neighborhoods of Kalaa and Saint Antoine to support local farmers and sell their products to residents and visitors.

Support for Youth and Sports

Support for Youth and Sports
• Establishment of fully equipped sports fields within the village to prevent young people from having to travel to neighboring villages.
• Formation of a youth advisory group from Bdadoun, called “Future of Bdadoun,” to contribute ideas and innovative proposals for the village’s development.

Creating Bicycle Paths

• Designing dedicated bike lanes along the village roads to encourage eco-friendly sports.

Preserving Literary and Poetic Heritage

• Honoring prominent zajal poets like Chahrour Al-Wadi, while also acknowledging other major cultural figures from the village.

Road Improvements

• Widening roads where possible within the village and enhancing sidewalks with aesthetic elements, without causing additional traffic congestion.

Widening of the Road to the St. Elie Community Cemetery

Widening the road leading to the cemeteries of the St. Elie community—from the spring to the cemetery grounds—to allow vehicle access, especially during bad weather, in order to prevent slipping and ensure safe transportation.
